    Peak Lenin - 2001

Peak Lenin is 7134 m high top in the Pamirs-Alai range. If you haven't climbed on 7-thousanders before, Peak Lenin is the best place in the World to try to do it for the first time and to get some high altitude experience. The top is located 200 km to the South of Osh. You can get to Osh by air via Almaty and Bishkek (with 250 km transfer by car from Almaty airport to Bishkek airport) or via Tashkent and Andijan (with 50 km transfer from Andijan airport to Osh. In the first variant you need Kazakh transit visa and in the second case you need Uzbeck transit visa. It is easy to get to the foot of Peak Lenin with 4WD car. It takes 7-8 hours to get there by car from Osh without hurrying. The classic route (via Peak Razdel'naya) is very simple and you don't need any equipment exept rope and ice-axe for insurance. Normally, having telescopic ski-sticks, some of skills in walking across not so deep snow, some of patience and good luck with weather is enough for getting to the top, which is only 1814 m smaller than Everest is. By the way you can learn some about Eastern Style of Living and what the pleasure is living in Central asia and drinking bitter Green Tea or Vodka...

Base Camp of ILI Travel in Achik-Tash valley on the foot of Peak Lenin will be open for visitors from 10 July till 10 September.
